Matters of Matter 1, 2020/21

These drawings are part of an investigation into interconnected material agencies and contemporary landscape. Materials are found in the local landscape, reconfigured into ink and allowed to interact with each other, without outside control. I am interested in wether the resultant visual image carries a sense of the landscape. The fascinating results show a repetition of fractals and forms found in the natural world. Reminiscent of wave forms, scales and bark, rivulets, river delta and trees, these patterns are present in a small blotch of home-made Waikato ink.
